Government Industrial Training Institute, Bangalore Road, Vellore.10, Popularly known as ITI - Vellore established and declared open by Shri M.BAKTAVATCHALAM Chief Minister of Madras in the presence of Shri R.Venkatraman Minister for Industries on 03.12.1966 keeping in proximity of Industrial belt of Chennai Tamil nadu

The institute campus is about 32.80 acres with a building having 16 class rooms, 3 computer lab , 1 smart class room ,library workshop with stores at 7401 sq. mts.

This institute has the privilege of being one of the ITI in Tamil Nadu to implement Centre of Excellence (CoE) in leather sector and various prestigious training programs / schemes under Directorate General Employment & Training such as National Service Scheme and TNSDC, Amma Two wheeler skill training center implementations. This institute is one of the model institute in Tamilnadu visited by National & International dignitaries , The inistitute has been upgraded to deputy director center., Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship

TRAINING WING
Skilled workforce is the back bone for the economic development of a country. Training Wing of this Department takes the responsibility of producing skilled workforce of our state by implementing various skill training programmers to ensure a steady flow of skilled manpower in different trades to the industry through a network of Government ITIs

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The Department is headed by the Director of Employment and Training. Two Joint Directors are assisting the Director at the State Head Quarters. The Directorate is functioning in a spacious building located at Thiru.V.Ka.Industrial Estate, Guindy, Chennai. There are 5 Regions viz., Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruhirappalli and Tirunelveli headed by Regional Joint Directors who supervise the Training activities in both Government ITIs and Private ITIs. There are 62 Government ITIs functioning across the State, each with a student strength from 100 to 1000. ITIs are headed by Principals in the cadre of Training Officer/Assistant Director / Deputy Director depending upon the trainee strength.
